Mr. Matthew Boggs - Director of Orchestras
Mr. Boggs received his Music Education degree from Peabody Conservatory in 2006. While at Peabody he studied with Paul Johnson and previously studied with Arnold Gregorian and Hampton Childress of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Since 2006, he has been a music educator in Howard County Public Schools where he currently is the Orchestra Director at Clarksville Middle School. Outside of being a middle school orchestra teacher, he has been a guest conductor, adjudicator, and clinician for various county, regional, and state festivals.
Mr. Boggs has been a freelance musician and having appeared with Maryland Symphony Orchestra, York Symphony, Annapolis Symphony, Maryland Philharmonic, and other ensembles in the Baltimore, Washington D.C. and Philadelphia area. In addition, he is actively maintaining a private studio, is one of the founding members of Bass Works, a summer camp for only bass players, and working at Encore Summer Music camp for 13 years.

Mr. Brent Flinchbaugh - Director of Bands

A native of Hanover, Pennsylvania, Mr. Flinchbaugh holds a Bachelor of Music degree and music education certification from the Peabody Conservatory of Music and a Master of Music degree in trumpet performance from University of Maryland where he studied trumpet with Chris Gekker.  Other major teachers include David Bilger and Elisa Koehler on trumpet and Harlan and Laura Parker in Music education.  He is currently acting principal trumpet of the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra and regularly performs throughout the Baltimore/Washington area with numerous orchestras and chamber music ensembles including the Baltimore Symphony, Washington Opera Society, Bach in Baltimore, and as a regular member of the Lyric Brass Quintet.  He is a recipient of the International Trumpet Guild "Young Artist Award."

As an educator, Mr. Flinchbaugh has been teaching band in Howard County, Maryland since 2010.  Currently he is Director of Bands at Clarksville Middle School.  He was awarded the 2014 Howard County Parents for School Music "Educator of the Year Award" and is currently the co-director of the HCPSS GT Wind Ensemble.  He previously co-directed the HCPSS Honors Band and has been a guest conductor throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.  Mr. Flinchbaugh has attended the Maryland Artist Teacher Institute at University of Maryland.

Mr. Flinchbaugh is also the founder and director of the Maryland Trumpet Institute, an organization dedicated to teaching and inspiring young trumpeters throughout the state.  For more information, please visit www.marylandtrumpet.com.

Ms. Caitlin Gilbert - General Music & Band

Caitlin Gilbert is a general music and instrumental teacher at Clarksville Middle School. She recently graduated from Towson University with a Bachelor of Science in Music Education She graduated from River Hill High School in 2014 and received an Associates of Arts from Howard Community College in 2016. During her studies at Howard Community College, she performed with the Columbia Concert Band and HCC Singers Choir numerous times. 

Ms. Gilbert is a clarinet player and has performed with the Towson University Symphonic Band for four semesters. She studied clarinet under the instruction of Dr. James Logan for two years and performed her senior recital in the Spring of 2018. Ms. Gilbert also performed with the Towson University Marching Band for two semesters. 

Ms. Gilbert’s teaching experience includes running sectionals for the HCC Singers Choir and the Towson University Symphonic Band. She also has experience giving private music instruction and personal aid to students with learning disabilities. Over the summer of 2018 and 2019, Ms. Gilbert volunteered at the Baltimore County Summer Music Camp and assisted student learning.

While at Howard Community College, Ms. Gilbert was a member of the James W. Rouse scholars program. She made the Dean’s list for two semesters and received the James and Lillian Clark Endowment Scholarship. In addition, she was inducted into the international honor society, Phi Theta Kappa, in Spring of 2016. During her time at Towson, Ms. Gilbert made the Dean’s list for two semesters and received the Origine Huss Scholarship for the 2016-2017 academic school year. 
    
Ms. Gilbert is a member of the National Association for Music Education. She is also an alumni of the service organization Kappa Kappa Psi. In her free time, she enjoys reading, spending time with friends, and art projects.

Ms. Caroline Marcotte - Chorus Director & General Music

Ms. Marcotte is excited to begin her 2nd year of teaching CMS. A native of Lake Bluff, Illinois, Ms. Marcotte received Bachelor of Arts Degrees in music and history at Boston College, and a Masters of Music in General and Choral Music Education from Northwestern University. She completed the first two levels of Kodály Certification at DePaul University, and plans on completing the third summer of 2018. Her previous teaching experience includes teaching general music and choir at St. Paul of the Cross School in Park Ridge, Illinois, and 6th-12th grade vocal music at Regina Catholic Education Center in Iowa City, Iowa. Most recently, she taught general music and chorus at Talbott Springs and Pointers Run Elementary Schools in Howard County.
